Testimonials

I came to see Dr Christopher Jenner in April 2017, suffering from vulvodynia. I had seen several doctors before making an appointment at the London Pain Clinic having been misdiagnosed. I had really given up hope of finding any relief. I had been in so much pain and it was affecting my work and relationships. I was apprehensive at my first visit due to the sensitive nature of the condition, but Dr Jenner immediately put me at ease and was the first doctor who gave me confidence that I would get better. He explained the likely cause of the pain, how the nerves work and I was referred to the excellent physio team who have been fantastic. I thoroughly recommend Jess Frydenberg at the White Hart Clinic. It took a few month to get the pain medication right.

However, nearly a year later I am on the road to recovery and feel confident the condition will continue to improve. I still have occasional bad days but they are much less now, the pain is not so intense and I know what the triggers are. I would urge anyone who suffers from this horrible condition to see Dr Jenner. He’ll listen to you and won't think you are crazy like other doctors and he has a great sense of humour!

This is just an email to write to all of you to say thank you so much for the best treatment.

I feel like I was really well listened to, I feel my treatment was appropriate and as comfortable as possible. As always Dr Singh is a real asset to the team. The same goes for everyone working in the office.

Thank you for accommodating all of my needs with good grace and having patience with me with all of my emails, phone calls and also emails and calls from my husband.

The hospital was absolutely outstanding and I had a really positive experience when I was there yesterday. All of the facilities were beautiful and clean. My room was quiet and comfortable. The HCA and the nurse were both so caring and kind.

The theatre team were superb and really put my mind at ease. The anaesthetic nurse got into my vein the very first time (this has never happened before) I was showered in affection and got to join in with jokes in what was a terribly stressful time for me and my husband.

I truly hope I won't need any more procedures and that I'll be comfortable now for a while. If it's not the case I know I am able to go and get rapid and compassionate treatment from The London Pain Clinic and that is most of the stress of being in pain sorted.

This procedure has shown me my lust for life again. It's guided my husband and me back to the path of adventure we used to take before I was ill.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart

I attended the London Pain Clinic because I wanted a coordinated multidisciplinary approach with professionals well versed in chronic pain. I have benefited not only from medical management, but also coping strategies, manual therapy, and physiotherapy input.

I cannot sing Dr Jenner’s praises highly enough.

I would like to say from the first phone call to London Pain Clinic everyone was so easy to speak to and very helpful.

From my first appointment with Dr Jenner, I felt some hope. He had an easy, approachable manner which I really appreciated, at this time I could barely sit on a chair.

I had suffered with chronic pain for about a year, but with much more severity the last 6 months, where at times I could not even get into my bed, due to spasms and pains that felt like electric shocks on most of my movements. I had not had proper sleep for months. It had a real impact on my life not being able to work, drive or even walk at times due to the pain affecting my legs.  Dr Jenner was the first professional that explained my MRI results in detail, in a way that I could understand. I knew my lower back was a mess, but he even told me about all the different types of pain that I was feeling.  To me just understanding was so helpful. He went on to say that he was going to change a lot of my medication again he explained all about what the various pills were for. Dr Jenner went on to say that he recommended that I have spinal injections and that he could do this procedure in a couple of weeks.

I left that first appointment feeling at last something was happening and that there was some hope.  I would be able get some sleep and relief from my pain. The mix of tablets helped the pain and I could sleep too.   Being powerful drugs I was unable to drive still, but as I only had a few weeks to wait for the day of my procedure I could see a light at the end of the tunnel.

On the day I was admitted (as a day case) it all went smoothly. Dr Jenner and his anaesthetist came to my room (which was very comfortable) to have a quick chat. I was taken to the theatre and given approximately ten injections which were x-ray guided and a spinal root epidural. I was asleep so did not feel these! I was allowed home several hours later and told to take it easy for the week. After 10 days I had some gentle physio at LPC which was extremely helpful.

By the time I saw Dr Jenner for a follow up appointment 5 weeks later, I had driven, been doing short walks and had gone back to school where I worked several mornings a week.  I was also having regular physio. When he asked what percentage of my pain had gone I said about 80% - Dr Jenner was as delighted as I was.

I am still improving and working to strengthen my core muscles to help my back. I know this is not a cure for me, it is respite, to get myself as strong and fit as I possibly can. I have no doubt that I will be seeing Dr Jenner again in the future!

I am writing this testimonial about the London Pain Clinic and my experience of the care, treatment and aftercare I received at the clinic.

From the first moment I arrived and met Dr Jenner, it was clear that he was surprised with the lack of aftercare treatment I'd received from my local hospital after a course of chemotherapy, and after reading my notes immediately suggested a course of treatment to relieve my pain.

We then proceeded to treatment - a lower back injection - at a private hospital in St. John's Wood, and almost immediately I felt a huge relief, like a new person.  My pain had reduced by 80% and I felt so much better and could do so much more!  Afterwards, the doctor prescribed me some tablets to further improve my condition and put me on a course of physiotherapy with Maxine.

I feel so much better.

I would highly recommend the London Pain Clinic to anyone who has been frustrated and in pain for a long time as my situation was virtually cured overnight, and with the proper aftercare and monitoring from the staff I have made great progress.

Before I came to the clinic my fibromyalgia was impacting on almost every aspect of my life. Exercise was out of the question and flare-ups put me out of action for several days at a time. The treatments available to me felt sorely limited knowing of the wealth of research being undertaken into the condition. I decided to contact the clinic, and I have never looked back.

I arrived for my first appointment ready to do battle, having struggled to articulate the impact of the condition to physicians elsewhere. My worries were completely unfounded. I found Dr Jenner to be caring, approachable and incredibly knowledgeable. He listened carefully to everything I had to say, and has since worked hard on my behalf to find me the best possible treatments.

Thanks to Dr Jenner I am clear-headed and free of incapacitating flare-ups for the first time in years. I have significantly more energy for work, family and friends and numerous doors previously closed to me are now wide open and beckoning. The clinic helped to put me in charge of my condition. As such, I couldn't be more thankful. I would wholeheartedly recommend the clinic to all fellow sufferers looking to get the best out of a life with fibromyalgia.

I first met Dr Jenner earlier this year in the midst of ongoing chronic pain suffering severe spinal trauma.  I had seen numerous doctors and had been given an enormous variety of pain relief medication, none of which touched or even diluted the intensity of pain.

As a clinician myself I had had to take a considerable amount of time away from my patients which was a huge concern for me.  In a matter of moments of meeting Dr Jenner, he quickly and comprehensively assessed the priorities of my situation.  Not only the levels of my physical pain and trauma but also the impact this had on my overall way of being able to function, including my professional work and my concerns regarding this.  The entirety of my medication was re-examined as was my medical history and presenting problems.

What struck me most throughout our first meeting (and also subsequent ones) was Dr Jenner’s astute awareness in exploring the immediate physiological arresting difficulties, together with the levels of pain and the priorities necessary for me personally.   As such, I wasn’t simply given yet another tablet but a considered combination of medication which would manage the current crisis and then be able to be adjusted effortlessly.  I experienced being seen as a whole person, not a medical condition requiring treatment.  Dr Jenner also informed me of more details regarding my MRI than the initial consultant had of which I am so grateful.

Within 24 hours, the degree of pain noticeably decreased and I slept through the night.  By the time of my first follow-up appointment a week later, movement had returned in my leg and, within the following two weeks I returned to work.  Given the degenerative condition I have means I will need to return in time.  What matters most, is I now feel secure in knowing who to go to.

Significantly, I very much want to highlight given my speedy recovery that Dr Jenner found the perfect balance.  He knew once I was able to get back to work I would need to be as involved in this as much as possible without sabotaging my physical  health and progress.  So some of the subsequent follow-up appointments might not be practical unless they were necessary and if they were, I would of course be seen immediately.  He entrusted me with all he had provided and also ensured his team would ‘check-in’ with me for the next few weeks, which they did.  I felt incredibly supported during my recovery and with Dr Jenner’s further recommendations with physiotherapy and post- crisis care.

With his profound and evident knowledge and highly approachable manner, Dr Jenner’s skills not only address getting rid of pain as quickly as possible but he also helps to take away the feelings of catastrophe that real physical pain evokes.
