As our world-class Pain Doctors at the London Pain Clinic, are all too aware: when it comes to suffering from long-term pain, one of the most common issues patients raise are long waiting times. People described months – sometimes years – of waiting for treatment, often without updates or clear timelines” [1]. Moreover, and extremely worryingly, the patient’s condition can worsen, and in some cases, irreversible degeneration can occur. Furthermore, on top of this, chronic pain and the related physical and mental trauma, can seriously impact the sufferer’s quality of life.
So this is why the London Pain Clinic, which leads the way in in Europe for all categories of pain, offers both in-person and online consultants with our renowned Pain Specialists. And once they have provided you with an accurate diagnosis (which is not always possible if your GP has not undergone the necessary additional years of training and in-house clinical expertise in pain and pain solutions), they will then devise a Holistic Personalised Treatment Plan which you can get started on right away. – This is likely to comprise multiple types of cutting-edge therapeutics, including:
- Conventional treatment (such as the latest pharmaceuticals)
- Various forms of therapy
- Injectables (including pain blockers and Botox)
Facing Facts
“A 2022 survey commissioned by BBC News found that nearly a quarter (23%) of people who live with chronic pain are on waiting lists for surgery or a pain-management program. When treatment plans are agreed but never followed up, patients lose trust in the system meant to support them” [1]. This is a very woeful state of affairs, and our Pain Doctors who in many cases, are taking people out of their NHS-derived extensive pain limbo, are being told of the same experiences. Our patients, who suffer from a broad range of pain conditions from lower back issues to fibromyalgia, are no longer suffering in silence. They waited and waited for the NHS to relieve them from their unrelenting pain, yet it although it was to no avail, they have now taken a different approach and turned the corner. And because of the London Pain Clinic’s advanced state-of-the-art methods these patients have now either negated their pain altogether, or are on a sustainable pain management program.
Did You Know?
“Living with chronic pain limits your ability to live and work, it can also feel isolating and has a negative impact on people’s mental health. Research on participants from the UK Biobank estimates that nearly half (46%) of people with widespread chronic pain have also experienced depression” [1]
Communicating Your Pain
This is an essential facet that is essential for patient well-being, being diagnosed correctly, and being given appropriate treatment. However, the aforementioned survey concluded that poor communication, that is to say: “lack of communication from healthcare teams was a recurring theme. People felt abandoned while waiting, with no support or advice to help them cope. Simple measures, such as information packs, peer support, or check-ins could make long waits less isolating” [1]. One survey participant shared the following with HealthWatch: “I have been waiting for almost a year to be seen by the hospital pain clinic. I need support whilst waiting, like a list of books that could help or something” [1]. However, looking on the bright side, patients at our London Pain Clinic can be safe in the knowledge that an almost immediate online or in-person appointment with one of our Pain Doctors, is just a phone call away.
